The Parallel Presents methodology was first developed as part of the Fashion Fictions project, which has engaged thousands of people around the world in speculating on alternative fashion systems.
The Fashion Fictions website provides:
- an array of speculative visions in the form of written texts, visual and material prototypes and embodied enactments
- resources to support individual participants and facilitators, including a dedicated resource for working with children
- information about Fashion Fictions, including a list of things to watch and read to discover more about the project’s approach to participatory speculation for sustainable transitions
A major new output is Amy’s book Fashion Fictions: Imagining Sustainable Worlds (Bloomsbury, 2025), which is available as an open access ebook and in print.
A source of inspiration for designers, researchers, activists and students alike, Fashion Fictions encourages its readers to reimagine the world around them and reveals what people are really yearning for in their experience of fashion.
